One Time Big Time For Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber is not a regular 15-year-old boy. He already has singles on Billboard Hot 100, 10 million hits(and counting) on his personal YouTube account, and he hangs out with R&B superstar Usher. A self-taught singer, dancer and musician (he plays the guitar, drums, piano and trumpet) who still maintains his 4.0 average in school, Justin is made of pure talent. Not to mention a boyish charm that sent tweens, and even some adults, swooning.
It seemed like his journey to success was already paved for him. He joined a local singing contest called Statford Idol at the age of 12. though competing against kids his age that had vocal training, he still placed second. his singing found its way to the World Wide Web for his friends and family to watch whenever they can't watch him perform live. The YouTube channel kidrauhl had caught the attention of the online community and in two years, it already racked up millions of hits. It's through YouTube that his manager, Scooter Braun, from So So Def, discovered him. He was just 13 then and he was all ready to conquer the bigger stage.
Because if his undeniable talent, his idols Justin Timberlake and Usher both offered him a record deal. Eventually he signed with Usher, whom he had funny encounter before he became part of Island Def Jam Records: "Right when we flew into Atlanta, Scooter drove us into the studio and usher was there in the parking lot. That was my first time ever being out of Canada so I went up to him and was like, 'Hey usher, I love your songs, do you want me to sing you one?' He was like, 'No little buddy, just come inside, it's cold out.'" Now there on the same record label, Justin still teases Usher about their "first encounter".
One Time came to the Philippines like a super typhoon, overtaking huge acts in the MYX Daily Top Ten and in the local radio stations. Indeed, justin Bieber has caused such a frenzy in the Filipino market. His debut album My World is a surefire hit generator. the latest release, One Less Lonely Girl, has already gained momentum in the international charts. Justin just started but he's already in a roll.
Justin bieber is a complete package- He's got the looks, the talent, and the hit songs. It won't take long for him to become a music superstar. But he's like every one of us in every way. He's just an ordinary kid from Canada who dreamt big. His success may be larger than he imagined it would be, but his heart can overpower any of its challenges.
Animals have special place in Justin's priorities. He is a proud supporter of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals(PETA), that encourages people to adopt homeless pets at animal shelters instead of buying them at stores. He's not just an animal lover, he wants to be a role model of the youth. "I'm looking forward to influencing others in a positive way, "says Justin.
With that, his blossoming career will prove to be not just a one time, big time thing.

Nagpapaalam nAPO Sila

Apo Hiking SocietyAPO Hiking Society has finally decided to disband after 40 years of unforgettable music. The news broke out during the press conference for their Valentine concert this Februrary 13 at the SMX Convention Center. It's been their plan do stop doing stuff as APO last year but they think it was timely to do it in their 40th year as a group. According to Buboy Garovillo, the creative process doesn't come with age. They've been struggling to get their thing together these past years. All of them expressed their interest in different fields and not just focused on their music, since they've been doing it for the longest time. Their valentine concert is everybody's last chance to see the trio together. Jim Paredes said in his Tumblr account that they promise to give the people the best shows in their final gigs as a group.

But this is only a goodbye to the well-loved trio. They'll still be doing their own work, business, and of course music for some of the members. They'll push through until May because they endorse presidential candidate NoyNoy Aquino. The Last Valentines nAPO will be the last grand performance of the group and they are inviting everyone touched by their music to come out and join them for their last performance as APO Hiking Society.

Their friendship and music spanned since their days at Ateneo de Manila University in 1969. They have produced a number of hits that are truly Filipino and nationalistic like Handog Ng Pilipino Sa Mundo for the People Power Revolution in 1986 and used for Former President Cory Aquino's funeral last August 1, 2009. MYX had a tribute cd for the trio entitled Kami nAPO Muna and Kami nAPO Muna Ulit that featured covers of their hit songs by some of the most sought after OPM artists that time. They were also awarded a MYX Magna Award during the 2007 MYX Music Awards in recognition to their contribution to the Filipino Music Industry.

Black Eyed Peas; Better Without Fergie?

Black Eyed Peas

Black Eyed Peas

The picture you see above are the BEFORE and AFTER photo of the group Black Eyed Peas, On the first photo those Rastafarian look alike was Taboo, Will I Am, and Apl de Ap, Can you spot the difference between the two pictures? Yes Fergie was not on the first photo, that was the Black Eyed peas way way back 1995 with their first album Behind The Front. Fergie just joined the group in their album Elephunk. Stacy "Fergie" Ferguson is the replacement of the group's background singer Kim Hill, who left the band in 2000. Originally, Nicole Scherzinger (lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls) was approached to join the Peas. She was forced to decline because she was a member of Eden's Crush and was under contract.
Many people posting comments on Youtube that Black Eyed Peas would be better without Fergie, that Fergie just ruined the group. But can you imagine, if without Fergie could it be the Black Eyed Peas step on the top of the top with their hit singles like Where Is The Love, the jaw dropping My Humps, Shut Up and the Back to Back hits Boom Boom Pow and I Got A Feeling? The answer would be, Maybe not, because Fergie is Fergie, the groups muse.
Maybe we can say we love their styles way back without Fergie, the rap battle style of the group who later changed when Fergie Joined. But just take a look again on the two photos above, it just portraits how the group improves after Fergie joined. The Dirty Look Rasta to Fashionista, from Amateur to Professionals, and from a Simple group to a Famous one. Just one thing I'm sure, Black Eyed Peas couldn't be Black Eyed Peas without this crazy hot mama Stacy "Fergie" Ferguson. Kudos Black Eyed Peas.

Maybe those fans of the group singing Boom Boom Pow was not able to see this video way back 1996 at Lornas Corner, now im giving you a chance to see what was Black Eyed Peas Before without Fergie and you decide what's better, is it with or without her.

The Health Benefits of Listening to Music

"If music is the medicine of the soul let it play on", so said a playwright. I think the made the statement because probably he got some relieve from music. Music has some strange healing ability. Read on, you will understand the picture I'm trying to paint.

Research has shown that stress can be handled by music. Music enters into the brain cells thus affecting the human brain. Medical scientists have proven that a person that is stressed out can actually listen to some kind of music and become well. How? The researchers said that since stress comes as a result of life events such as starting a new family, starting a new business, starting a new job, and relocating to a new place, one can actually listen to good music and feel good because as stress touches the human mind negatively so good music also touches the human mind positively. Music helps you to forget the stressful life events and remember the momentous events that once happened in your life.

Depression is a disease caused by so many factors including stress, alcoholic addiction, drug abuse or addiction, smoking, social problems such as unemployment, family crisis, divorce, conflict, and imprisonment. Depression is also caused by economic problems such as poverty, and failure in business. Depression is characterized by weakness, headache, confusion, and loss of concentration. Good music makes one to remember happy moments or good days; if you play music about love it makes you feel like falling in love again though you have had several heartbreaks. And such good feeling makes you healthy.

Anxiety is another health problem that can be controlled by music. Anxiety is a side effect of some major health problems such as cancer of the liver and cancer of the breast. Good music makes you feel relaxed and eliminates the pains inherited from these diseases. It removes every factor responsible for anxiety and makes you feel all right.

Cool good music helps to control your breathing and heart rate. Poor breathing rate could be as a result of lung problems such as common cold, tuberculosis, and pneumonia. Good music helps to calm down the cells and tissues that make up the lungs thereby bringing down the patient's breathing and heart rate to normal.

Good music can send you to sleep. And you need to know that sleep puts your body in a healthy condition. Sleep takes away the effects of stress, depression and anxiety from a person.

You don't have to underrate the power of good music. It performs unimaginable wonders. I think music should be classified as one of the wonders of the world. It is a universal language spoken by everyone across the world.

Play good music when you feel unhealthy and it will certainly ease off some of those nasty pains.

Avril Lavigne went on a girls-only trip to Las Vegas

Avril Lavigne

Avril Lavigne went on a girls-only trip to Las Vegas.

The 'Girlfriend’ singer – who filed for divorce from her estranged husband Deryck Whibley in October 2009 – recently whisked away some of her closest female friends for a five-day break in 'Sin City’ to party and have fun.

A source told America’s Star magazine: 'All she wanted was a girls’ weekend. She had a strict no-boys-allowed rule. She needed to let loose. She’d had it up to there dealing with men.'

Avril splashed out over $750 a night for the women to stay at the luxurious Vdara hotel and spa in the new CityCenter complex.

On one night out to the Bank nightclub, which is located inside the Bellagio hotel, the 25-year-old pop star treated fellow revellers to a short impromptu sing-along as she partied with friends and ignored the advances of any men.

The source added: 'They took shots of Patron tequila when they weren’t drinking vodka. She couldn’t have cared less about any of the men ogling her. They closed down the clubs every night they went out. They had a blast. Then for the hangovers, they hit Vdara’s spa before doing it all again.

Dare to Listen to The Suicide Song(Gloomy Sunday)

"Gloomy Sunday" is a song composed by Hungarian pianist and composer Rezső Seress in 1933 to a Hungarian poem written by László Jávor (original Hungarian title of both song and poem "Szomorú vasárnap"), in which the singer mourns the death of a lover and contemplates suicide.
Though recorded and performed by many singers, "Gloomy Sunday" is closely associated with Billie Holiday, who scored a hit version of the song in 1941. Owing to unsubstantiated urban legends about its inspiring hundreds of suicides, "Gloomy Sunday" was dubbed the "Hungarian suicide song" in the United States. Seress did commit suicide in 1968, but most other rumors of the song being banned from radio, or sparking suicides, are unsubstantiated, and were partly propagated as a deliberate marketing campaign.[1] Possibly due to the context of the Second World War, Billie Holiday's version was, however, banned by the BBC.

Don't listen to the song if you're depress, it's not my fault if you commit suicide after.LOLz...

LimeWire: Legal or Illegal

LimeWire is a free peer-to-peer file sharing (P2P) client for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and other operating systems supported by the Java software platform.
Is it Legal?
LimeWire is completely legal. However, the purpose many people use it for is not. Downloading copyrighted music, videos, or programs without the permission of the author is illegal. This is called "copyright infringement" or "piracy." Calling LimeWire illegal would be like calling cars illegal because one could use it to run over somebody. It is just a tool
Just as having a magnet that could influence the wheels in a slot machine could sway you to using it illegally, so having software like Limewire can influence and encourage you to receive downloads of audio and video content that is indeed illegally distributed.

Here's how the Limewire folk respond to this question:

"Copyright laws and laws pertaining to patents and inventions protect original works of authorship and inventions. Individuals who reproduce, distribute copies, receive copies, publicly perform or display works or inventions other than their own and without the consent of the owners or holders of rights, or their authorized agents, in original works of authorship or inventions, may be in violation of copyright, patent or other intellectual property infringement. Lime Wire LLC does not encourage or condone the illegal copying of copyrighted material. This is not intended to be legal counsel or advice. If you have any questions, consult your attorney."

Of course, try downloading the Limewire application from their site and you'll find you have to answer a question that highlights that they are well aware of its most common use.

imeem was a social media service where users interacted with each other by streaming, uploading and sharing music and music videos. However, it has since been shut down now that MySpace has acquired the service.

The company was founded in 2003 by Dalton Caldwell (ex-VA Linux) and Jan Jannink (formerly of Napster), and many of its core engineering team came from the original Napster file-sharing service[1]. The company takes its name from “meme,” a term coined by author Richard Dawkins to describe the spread of ideas and cultural phenomena.

imeem helped pioneer the free, advertising-supported music model for online music, permitting consumers to legally upload, stream and share music and music playlists for free with the costs supported by advertising. In 2007, imeem became the first-ever online music site to secure licenses from all 4 U.S. major music labels to offer their music catalogues for free streaming and sharing on the web.

The company also created the web’s first embeddable music and video playlists. People could use imeem’s widgets to embed songs and playlists from imeem virtually anywhere on the web, including on their MySpace and Facebook profiles or on their personal blogs.

imeem was based in San Francisco’s South of Market district, with additional offices in New York and Los Angeles. The company’s investors included Morgenthaler Ventures and Warner Music Group.

On December 8, 2009, it was bought out by MySpace Music in a firesale for an undisclosed amount. However, it is stated to have been less than $1 million

On December 8, 2009, MySpace (owned by News Corp) acquired imeem and angered many imeem users when it was closed down on the same day and all users were redirected to MySpace Music. The music-focused social network did not pay artists or labels the money owed to them for music streaming. The controversial move was criticized as another sign MySpace is out of touch with the times. Myspace recently assured users that their playlists are safe and that they are currently duplicating every users' playlist and will migrate them on to Myspace Music as soon as possible. Myspace assured that features and functionality that users were used to at imeem will soon find their way onto MySpace, and compliment the existing platform alongside free full-song streaming, artist profiles, music videos, and more. Myspace will email imeem users the instructions on how to claim their playlists. On January 15, 2010, Myspace began restoring imeem playlists.

Right Now, It's Girl's Generation!

Sugar and spice and all that's nice make the SNSD girls such a chart-busting standout

So Nyeo Shi Dae, Girl's Generation, SNSD, Shao nu Shi Dai, Soshi- only one thing comes to mind for many kpop fans upon hearing these words, intoducing Korea's representative girl group, "Ji geum eun So Nyeo Shi Dae!" Literally translating to "Right now , it's Girls Generation!", this intoductory statement that girls shout out before or after performances has become synonymous with the arrival of the best of the best of the Korean girl groups.
Having debuted two years ago under SM entertainment in Korea, the nine girls that make up Girl's Generation have steadily risen up the ranks of the Korean entertainment industry not just wit their music and performances, but also with various other activities such as acting, modelling, emceeing, deejaying, variety shows, reality shows, (they currently have their very own show called Hello Baby on KBS) and commercial endorsements.
However, the girls made their biggest splash earlier this year when they released the song Gee, which reached an all-time record with nine consecutive wins in the weekly music variety show Music Bank. No artist in the history of Korean entertainment industry ever achieved such a feat and most experts in the industry admitted the record will probably stand for a very long time. It would seem that the number nineis truly a lucky number of these nine girls.
The girls also have the distinction of being the only female act in Korea thus so far to ever sell 100,000 copies consecutively for each of the past three albums they've released. Baby Baby in 2008, Gee i the earlier half of 2009, and Tell Me Your Wish(Genie) during the second half of 2009. However, apart from selling numerous albums upon each release, the girls also set fashion trendes in Korea with their unique album concepts.
For Gee, the girls followed through with their already sweet, pure and innocent image and wore skinny jeans in bright neon rainbow colors. It was an instant hit with thousands of men and women in Korea and thousands more across the world! One fan remarked on Youtube video Gee music Video," I never knew girls this cute cute could ever exist!"
When they released Genie last July, they switched to a more mature image with a military concept. The girls wore army attire for the album and in all their performances, From infantry fatigues to navy officer uniforms, it drove all the male fans wild! One must remember that Korea, men must two years of mandatory military service. So, havinga beautiful, young girl looking at you straight in the eye saying "Tell me your wish, I'll be your genie' whilst wearing a sexy military uniform be enough to drive any Korean male crazy!
Girl's Generation fans are called Sones, and they include tens of thousands in Korea to as far as Europe and even more surprising, the Middle East! This evidenced by the 48,000 members that are is home to the largest international fanbase of Girl's Generation.
This is no surprise since Girl's Generation can speak over four different languages, Korean, English (Jessica and Tiffany are Korean-American), Japanese (Sooyoung was a child star in Japan) and Chinese Mandarin (Hyoyeon studied in China for over a year).
Currently, the girls are taking a break. But SM Entertainment has hinted that they are resting in preparation for their promotional activities in China. It would seem that these nine girls, Taeyeon,Jessica, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona and Seohyon are poised to take over the world, currently adding the Philippines to their list of conquests with the tremendous sales of their Genie album release.
Truly, it is now a girl's generation. SNSD Fighting! Ji geum eun, So Nyeo Shi Dae!

R.O.O.T.S (Route Of Overcoming The Struggle) by Flo Rida Album Review

With singles Right Round and Jump conquering the radio in the country, you'll want to look for Flo Rida's sophomore album dubbed as R.O.O.T.S (Route Of Overcoming The Struggle). I am not a fan of rap and hip-hop music but after listening to the album for this music review, Flo Rida gave me a new perspective about this genre. Let me say that this release has a well-formed track list that leads to a variety of moods and music. And with Akon, Ne-yo, Nelly Furtado, Wyclef Jean, Pleasure P and Wynter Gordon at the tracklist this is not your usual rap and hip-hop studio album. By the way, let me pick Be On You with Ne-yo as my favorite cut in the album. Kudos to Flo Rida!

Jay-Z and U2 record a duet for Haiti

Jay-Z and U2 have recorded a duet to raise money for charity.

The ’99 Problems’ rapper and the legendary Irish rockers have joined together to collaborate on a single with the help of producer Swizz Beatz to generate funds for victims of the devastating earthquakes in Haiti.

U2 rocker The Edge – who is joined by Bono, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. in the band – revealed on Irish radio station 2FM: 'Bono got a call from a producer, Swizz. He and Jay-Z wanted to do something for Haiti. So Bono came up with a phrase on the phone and last night we were here, we wrote a song, finished, recorded, and sent it back to them.

"So, that might be the next thing you hear from us."

Meanwhile, 31-year-old producer Swizz has the promised the track he made with the band and the rapper – who is known to friends as Hova - will be 'amazing'.

He tweeted: "Me, Bono, Hova have something to say about Haiti. Stay tuned.

"I told you I was working on something amazing for Haiti. They need us!"

The release date is not yet known.

In the meantime, some of the world’s biggest musicians are preparing to perform at an international Haiti telethon on Friday evening (22.01.10) to help raise funds.

Coldplay and Jay-Z have been confirmed to perform at a London location, while Kid Rock, Sheryl Crow and Keith Urban will all sing in Los Angeles.

Haitian-born singer Wyclef Jean – who has led a money-raising appeal for the cause – will perform in New York alongside Mary J Blige, Shakira, Sting and Bruce Springsteen.

The Caribbean nation has suffered another devastating earthquake today (20.01.10), while the area is still recovering from last week’s first natural disaster.

Alicia Keys desperate to duet with Prince

The 'No One' singer - who has won nine Grammy Awards during her music career – says it would be a dream come true to record a track with her idol, the only celebrity who has left her completely star-struck.

Speaking during an appearance on UK radio station BBC Radio 1Xtra, the 28-year musician said: "I met Prince before. I tried to act cool but I definitely had a little star-struck moment. He’s great.'

Although Alicia – who was interviewed by Trevor Nelson for his show which airs on Saturday evening (23.01.10) – is targeting Prince for a collaboration, she is happy for now to have got the opportunity to work with Beyonce Knowles on her soon-to-be released single 'Put It In A Love Song'.

Alicia, 28, said: "We had a lot of fun. It's nice that we just celebrate each others careers, that's what the song is about, coming together to empower each other. We've become really good friends. We've been in the business about the same amount of time and both signed to Columbia records together when we were 14. It was like a party in the studio, the energy was so high and chemistry was genuine."

It’s not only 'Raspberry Beret’ hitmaker Prince who Alicia has got her artistic eyes on.

She recently revealed she would be keen to collaborate with Kings of Leon and M.I.A. as well.

She said: "Working with other people is definitely something I want to do more of. I love it a lot. It takes me out of my element into a whole other world. I'd love to collaborate with Kings of Leon and M.I.A. I think would be crazy."

The music video of the song was star studied, having famous Filipino showbiz artist like Regine Velasquez, Sharon Cuneta, Kris Aquino, Boy Abunda, Marian Rivera, Bea Alonzo, Anne Curtiz, Dingdong Dantes, Aiai delas Alas, Mariel Rodriguez, Eric Santos, Bianca Gonzales, James Yap and more. Of course fans of the said artists would wish to see their idols on this music video.

3. Manny Villar (Jingle/Song)- Using Street Children as the artist of the song was a great idea for touching people's heart. Children are having LSS (Last Song Syndrome) on the song and Manny is earning more fans on Facebook with the help of this song. "Si Manny Villar ang Magtatapos ng Ating Kahirapan" the most remembered part of the song but is it possible for Manny Villar to end the poverty of his pillow people?

4.Hawak Kamay- It is a news in TV Patrol World that Loren Legarda paid for the Hawak Kamay's music intellectual property for Php 1,000,000.00 for her to legally use the song as jingle. The song was composed and popularized by Yeng Constantino a known Filipino artist.

Eddie Ako- sung by Gloc 9, a Filipino rap artist for the TV ads of Bro. Eddie Villanueva. Although the song was good, i don't really think that Bro. Eddie like rap. Yo! Bro. Eddie Wazzup man!!!

5.Posible- is it posible for Gibo to sulong for using this song? Because
Singer-songwriter Rico Blanco has blasted Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard bearer Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro for using his composition, Rivermaya’s “Posible,” in one of his political advertisements, claiming that it was done without permission. Blanco was surprised that the singer in the political ad even copied his voice that might give an impression that he is supporting Teodoro in the coming elections. It was reported that Teodoro’s camp paid the record label, Viva Records, for the rights but how come the singer is giving the administration’s presidential candidate the benefit of the doubt.Rico acknowledged that Teodoro is a smart person, “but if he can't run a good campaign how can he can run a country?”. Well just good luck for the two of you.

Note: after all Philippine Star publish that using the song was legal that's why the ad still goes on.

After the battle ends against Liza Nakpil in the controversy about the registration of 'Rivermayas" trademark, the bands proves that they are still the "Banda ng Bayan" with their new album "Closest Thing to heaven". Listen to "Ambotsa" and you'll be hook up with the bisayan lyrics "Ambot sa imo" which means "I Don't Know About You" in English, the song "Mulat" will proves that even they currently changed their lineups, they are still the Rivermaya we know for decades with the song's "PANGMASA" lyrics talking about a farmers life in the farm.
"Ongano" will make you sung "Walang mahirap na gawa kung alam mo ang 'yung ginagawa" unconsciously, the song reminds me of the "Apo Hiking Society" style in making verses.
