Who Really Owns the "Rivermaya" Trademark- The (What Went On) Story

September 26, 2009- The Rivermaya Facebook group page gets shut douwn, apparently after Lizza Nakpil files a report that she has all the rights to the name "Rivermaya".

September 28, 2009- The Rivermaya Facebook fan page was disabled. The RivermayaTV Youtube account was also suspended, but would later be reactivated.

October 1, 2009- Lizza releases a statement saying that the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) of the Philippines has deemed her the rightful owner of the name Rivermaya. It also said that no one could use the name "Rivermaya" without her authorization. Attached with this statement are pages of the actual IPO decision.

October 12, 2009- The Save Rivermaya Fan Page went offline. A new page called "Ang Banda Ng Bayan" was subsequently created.

October 2009- After allegedly being threatened by Lizza Warner Music Philippines, under direct orders from Warner Asia Pacific, initiated the pull-out of Rivermaya's latest album Closest Thing To Heaven from all record bars.

October 14, 2009- The IPO releases a certification that Lizza Nakpil's application for registration of the trademark "Rivermaya" is not yet final.

October 21, 2009- The courts issue a Temporary Restraining Order(TRO) against Lizza, legally preventing her from claiming that she owns the name "Rivermaya" and from threatening those who do business with Mark, Japs, Mike and Jayson for 72 hours.

October 24, 2009- The TRO was granted an extension of 20 days.

October 27, 2009- Facebook reactivates the Rivermaya Facebook group page. The Makati Regional Trial Court issues a warrant of arrest to detain Lizza for prosecution of the crime estafa. Lizza posts bail the same week.

November 6 and 9, 2009- Scheduled hearing for the Preliminary Injuction. Lizza did not attend.

November 19, 2009- The court grants a Writ of Preliminary Injunction ordering Lizza to "Rectify, correct or recall all letters and communications announcing that she is the registered owner of the service mark "Rivermaya".
